When you are out in the middle of the sea in a small boat, 

Thirsty, exhausted, and burnt by the sun,

Rationing the last pint of water and last crumb of bread,

With nothing but an abyss of water all around,

It is good to remember

That at some point, 

You must have made the decision to leave the comfort of shore

And set out on this voyage.

Do not drink the seawater that is all around, 

As tempting as it may be. 

It will make you ill.

Just wait a bit longer, buckets poised,

For that drop of sweet nectar to fall,

And the rains to begin.

Sometimes

You just have to stick your head in

And hear only that rushing silence

Letting the water carry it all away.

Sound Current

This river

Is so old

That its banks were carved

By that first word

As it shaped the world.

This river

Runs with such sweet water

That with just one sip

You will be forever nourished

And in want of nothing more.

Is fed by the clear cool spring

To go for a swim.

On this blog, I will be posting daily entries of poetry and art arising from my practice of Kundalini yoga. These particular images come from my participation in a 40 day global meditation hosted by Spirit Voyage and led by the beautiful Ajeet Kaur. The practice of pairing art and Kundalini Yoga was inspired by my work with Hari Kirin Kaur Khalsa, and her book Art and Yoga. She is Ajeet's mother, and I have had the privilege to work closely with both of them. 

The images posted here are done with colored pencil on drawing paper. Please note that they are copyrighted.  I am working on getting some of my artwork printed and up for sale on Etsy. If there's a particular image that you are drawn to, let me know, and I would be happy to make a print of it for you.
